According to the Sustainability Development Goal (5), gender equality constitute an important aspect of societies.
This is because it involves women who are architects and pillars of most society.
The slogan which says to educate a girl is to educate a nation happens to be one the most powerful ideas behind peace and development in nation building.
In spite of this all women experience several forms of violence that needs to be tackles with deep understanding to redeem their dignity and integrity. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), a crime perpetrated by women on their younger peers is not a cultural belief but a crude violation of women's rights that warrants the implementation of justice on the violators. FGM is a serious crime as humanity with effects ranging from short term (bleeding and death) to long term ( complicated birth delivery, loss of dignity and integrity). FGM is a horrific heinous crime and not just a deadly practice on its victims. On the basis of moral standards it is an erroneous belief with no benefits to its victim.FGM is a global practice with no cultural roots. It is widely practised in Asia and Africa. It has been exported to European colonial mother countries like France, Britain and Italy. FGM is highly practiced at the Horn of Africa where Italian colonial occupation was rampant.
